The History of Peacock Gym
Established in 1978!
Established in the surroundings of the Royal London Docks – and holding true to many to the values of those who plied their trade in the once thriving East London industry – the Peacock Gym was born in 1978, making its home in Canning Town.
The iconic boxing gym, in the years that followed, became a breeding ground for champions of the ring and the most respected training environment in the capital.
It is a place of work in the field of sport that runs along basic principles. Showing respect to all is a condition of entry and the gym prides itself on being the home of sport and friendship.
Boxing is the core business of the Peacock Gym, but it also provides a haven for the local community where education and inspiration are delivered in equal measure to people of all ages daily.
The great and the good of the sport have passed through the Peacock Gym doors during the 40 years of its existence. The names of Sir Henry Cooper, Sugar Ray Leonard, Frank Bruno, Prince Naseem Hamed, Lennox Lewis and Floyd Mayweather jr provide just a snapshot of the multitude of kings of the ring who have donned the gloves and stepped between the ropes in London E16.

A new clutch of champions are currently in production, both amateur and professional, reinforcing the reputation of the Peacock Gym as the foremost centre of excellence in the sport of boxing
